A mindset perspective:
Resilience through more inner strengths?
As leaders, we take care of our survival: solve problems to keep the engine running; get the team push more; use political power; even use carrot-stick incentives. We can do this, because we have to. We have no choice. There is no space. This is what I am here for.
Let's allow for a new thought: We should not be fire fighters. We are leaders. Leaders should lead. Beyond. Committed to what we call thriving futures. Reassessing direction as if we look anew. Being focused, engaged and connected - all about long term direction. From here.
Motivated by our believe that prosperity lies beyond this crisis, that event, we are trimmed to think and lead short term. We don’t even see that what we do is simply short term fire fighting. We don't really see any other option. The reason we fall for this is because we fear not staying relevant within this world (... a world we cannot control, influence or change anyways).
Yet, there is no point in fearing to become irrelevant within this world, with what is. Because what is, will not stay. Everything is in transformation. Uncertainty is here to stay. Uncertainty requires a new set of qualities to survive, thrive and lead: steady hand, calm mind, focus, grit, perspective.
Providing and embodying clarity, knowing that we have entered a new era, where way finding - navigation - requires for space. For leveraging space. For allowing space, so we can look from the distance - or even from right here, right now: observing with a calm mind where we stand, what evolves around us, what evolves with us, through us.
We lack approaches, skills - and the inner space - to do this. This is why we build Resilience & Spaces. We believe that we need our inner capacity to uncover direction. Haunted by the system we created, we lack the ability to let go, we lack clarity. We have forgotten what it feels like to wake up at night not due to nightmare but due to knowing our why, and deriving from this, how we do show up. We want to enable leaders to discover this space. Space that hosts purpose and courage, discipline and confidence, grit and compassion. The human brain allows us to build resilience skills, inner strengths, for the transformation, as transformation.
Fire fighting will get us only there: ashes on burnt ground. Yet we need leaders that lead into the new - and do this with persistence until the followers join in. Because direction has to be towards resilient, desirable, thriving futures. We don't want anything else.
Do get in touch. Share where you stand right now. Put down the fire hoses and get support to get into leading.
